Hej! Welcome to my study abroad blog. My name is Kate, and I am a junior at Washington University in St. Louis. This spring, I am studying in Stockholm, Sweden through a DIS Stockholm program.
At WashU, I am majoring in Biology and minoring in Global Health. I am on the pre-med track, and I plan on applying to medical school in the future. I applied to DIS through the Medical Practice & Policy program.

As a freshman in college, I had no plans to study abroad. I didn’t think I would have time in my schedule, and I was terrified at the idea of being so far from home. Sophomore year, on a whim, I took an introductory Swedish language course, and my views about studying abroad quickly changed. I had so much fun learning about the language and the culture of Sweden, so I started looking into the possibility of spending a semester overseas. DIS Stockholm seemed like a perfect fit for me. The Medical Practice & Policy program aligned well with my academic/career goals, and I would have to opportunity to experience the Swedish way of life.
A bit more about me… In my free time, I love to visit with friends and family, explore coffee shops, go to the movies, golf, listen to music, and spend time outdoors. I think that Sweden will be the perfect environment to expand on my interests, meet new people, and go on lots of adventures. I can’t wait! Be sure to follow along!
